Looking Back - 2006/07 - Palm Treo 750/750v

Thursday, May 29, 2014

Before the iPhone, your choice of smartphones was limited mostly to the Windows Mobile/Pocket PC devices or a BlackBerry. In both cases, the most advanced technology you could hope for was a resistive touch screen display. The technology required a hard "press" to register, and icons on screen were so small you needed a stylus to be sure to hit them accurately. Multi-touch? Forget about it.

One of those was the Palm Treo 750/750v. It was a QWERTY-equipped device that was easy (ish) to use, had a wonderful button control system and felt great in hand. Sadly, it came out at the wrong time and was eclipsed by the hype surrounding Apple's latest device: iPhone.
